Sidewalk Romance
I see her sit down quietly,
She moves with musical fluidity.
Still I stand here awkwardly,
Stricken.
I walk towards her,
Clumsily.
I stumble but quickly recover.
She smiles sweetly,
Instant courage is what I discover.
Our eyes met and my feet left earth,
Heart all a flutter.
I came in close,
Touched her hand, so sweet and soft.
Not knowing what to do,
I lie and say I’m lost.
Around her neck, a single golden cross.
What happened next is ours to know.
My mind said no but my heart said go,
Hearts will do what they please as you know.
