A Walk In The Dark
I walk around at night alone,
To hear the world sigh and moan.
The people will not heed me here,
The sleep that wraps me, all their own.
But listen would you, I feel them near,
The people of the night are here.
I cannot say who they are,
But those who know, they say don’t fear.
Abiding here not near, nor far.
They own the night, not moon nor star.
I tread the dark to hear them talk,
Some might say to heal a scar.
Not just the shadows decide to talk,
The trees, they watch me as I walk.
There they stand, dark and deep.
Some of them whisper, some of them mock.
These thoughts are mine alone to keep,
The night is deep and thoughts are cheap.
Yet all I want to do is sleep.
Yet all I want to do is sleep.
